UPDATE!!!  TIMMY WAS ADOPTED BY PAUL S. ON JULY 24th!  CONGRATS PAULA!!!

We received an email that originated from Mylestown Equine Rescue regarding the seizure of several horses from a New Jersey hack stable.  One of the horses left to be placed was a 15.2 hand Quarter Horse gelding that apparently had a lot of fear issues.  According the information we received, the workers at the stable thought he was crazy and didn't want to go near him; however, Susankelly Thompson from Mylestown enlisted the help of a local trainer, Joe Williams, who went out to assess the horse to see if was salvagable.  Mr. Williams found him to be a nice horse that just needed to gain trust through proper handling.  Mylestone put forth great effort to find someone to take this guy.  We offered to bring him in hear to our rescue, work with him, and place him in an appropriate home.  When I arrived at the facility to pick him up, I was told by his handlers that he was extremely difficult to deal with and no one wanted to go near him.  I did not find that to be the case at all...After spending only about an hour working with him I was able to get him to load onto the trailer all by himself!  He just needs a kind hand...he has obviously been manhandled and not treated very nicely in the past.

I got him home and thought about a name for him.  Then it hit me...TIMIJIN!  I rode a little Morgan cross when I was a kid that looked just like him, so I decided he would be named after him..."Timmy" for short!  He is currently in quarantine and in desperate need of a farrier and dentist.  I will continue to post updates.

UPDATE MAY 2010 - TIMMY is doing great!  What a special little guy!  And a really nice little horse to ride.  He's flashy, too!  This guy is learning confidence through natural horsemanship and he's responding really well.  I've also been riding him and he's very responsive.  A nice little horse!  Adoption fee is $1,000.00.

I went to visit Candy on Monday evening and had a wonderful visit with Maria.  It was great to see Candy's new stall all set up with toys and things to keep her entertained!  This is the best place for Candy because there are so many people in and out of the barn that Candy will really get used to many different people.  She has a special stall right under Maria's apartment!  I love it!

Candy has lots of toys in her new stall!

Candy meeting Pee Wee for the first time!

Candlelight - aka "Candy" was adopted on December 23rd by Maria Vorhauer of Dana Point Farm!  Candy is a small three year-old Welsh pony mare.  She was adopted to be a life-long friend for Maria's special little filly, Pee Wee, who was born as a twin two years ago and miraculously survived.  She weighed only 21 lbs. at birth.  After many many months of critical care, Pee Wee is now doing great.  She is a purbred Thoroughbred in a pony sized body and will never be able to be ridden.  She has become Dana Point's "mascot."  I love that we finally found the perfect home for Candy.  It wasn't easy to place her.  As beautiful as she is, due to her emotional issues she is not a kid-safe pony.  It took us nearly two years for the right match to come along!  I feel so blessed that Maria found us and I am eternally grateful for Dana Point Farm giving Candy a permanent home.  Her only job is to be Pee Wee's friend and play with her!  What a life, huh?

Getting ready to load Candy for her trip home!

ON 09/03/09!  CONGRATULATIONS TIFF!!!!  I'm so happy to have made this connection!  Tanner will be boarded here at HHF for a little while, so his best buddy, Winston, is SOOOO happy that his buddy isn't going to leave him just yet!

"Fancy This" - also known as Petey!

What a fancy little boy this guy is!  I gave him the show name Fancy This because it is so appropriate...he truly is a fancy little one!  Petey is 12 years old and had been a neglect case at one point in time that has been shuffled around a bit over the last six months.  He was transferred to us from another rescue about six weeks ago.  He is a Hackney crossed with something, don't know what, and is a gelding!  He does has LOTS of energy, which will make him a brilliant little dressage or eventing pony.  Beautiful mover and the fanciest head you ever saw!  FLASHY FLASHY FLASHY little 13.0 hand squirt!  He is not suitable for a beginner as he is a bit green and he does have an energy level that requires someone who understands the concept of a half-halt and patience.  He has loads of potential.  He is now UTD on everything, including dental (his teeth were atrocious).  I just took him to his first show ever on September 5th and he did great!  He was a little tense, but behaved himself and scored very respectably in Intro A and B!  We took 3rd place in Intro A!  W/T/C and does take small fences.  This is a very talented pony for an ambitious young rider or small adult.  The below photo was taken on 09/05 at the Twin Lakes Dressage Show, and to give you an idea, I am about 5'7", so I'm certainly a bit tall on him.  The judge really liked him a lot and was amazed at his big trot for such a little guy!   Loads, clips (isn't crazy about the ears, though), ties, stands great for the farrier, and was a gem for the dentist.  Bathes easily too!  And he stood very nicely tied to the trailer with a hay bag at the show.  PETEY WAS ADOPTED BY THE KUC FAMILY OF HIDDEN CREEK EQUESTRIAN CENTER!  We are so thrilled that "Fancy This" is going to such a fancy place!!!!  Thank you so much for giving this special and talented pony a great home!
